Mr. McCormack is an Executive Member of American Patriot Holdings LLC. Mr. McCormack started his maritime career upon his 1974 graduation from the State University of New York Maritime College with Bachelor of Science Degree in Marine Transportation Management, a commission as Ensign in the U.S. Navy, a license as Third Mate Oceans Unlimited Tonnage, and a Master’s license for 1600 GRT Vessels.
Upon graduation, he joined the Exxon Company USA Marine Department and sailed in various licensed deck officer positions until 1978, when he moved ashore in Houston. He promoted through professional, management and executive positions in Human Resources, Operations, Business Analysis, and Commercial. Mr. McCormack moved to Exxon International Co. in Florham Park New Jersey in 1991 as Commercial Operations Manager in Exxon Corporation’s foreign flag tanker business.
In 1993, he relocated back to Houston to assume the Commercial Manager’s position for Exxon’s domestic fleet (ATB fleet, the Ocean Tanker Fleet, 80 barge Inland fleet, tug assist business and offshore lightering). In 2001, following the merger with Mobil, he assumed the position of VP Marine Commercial and Development, responsible for managing the combined Exxon and Mobil domestic marine commercial business.
In 2005 and 2006, he transferred to Doha, Qatar to assume the position of Ship Acquisition Manager, leading a team responsible for awarding building contracts and time charters for 210,000 to 270,000 cu meter LNG tankers built in three Korean shipyards.
In 2007 he returned to Houston as V.P. In 2011, Mr. McCormack became the ExxonMobil Corporation Global VP Marine Commercial and Development, responsible for managing the worldwide (foreign and domestic) marine commercial activities for the Corporation. Mr. McCormack retired from ExxonMobil in March 2013. During his time at ExxonMobil, Mr. McCormack was active in the American Waterway Operators and was a Board Member of the Waterways Council.
